Often times in the back of wagons candles were kept for night time preparations. Candles would be found in a container of various sorts. Many colonial settlers would wrap their breakables in swaddle cloth piltchers to keep them from getting broken on the rough prairie trails. Of course, they would gather some soiling along the way. The beeswax was collected after smoking the bees from the hive and would often end up dark due to impurities. This is the inspiration for our highly scented adorably named candles.
